Canazei, Italia
Hotel La Perla in Canazei, a great hotel with a taste of home.
Did you know that even in a great 4-star hotel in the Dolomites of Trentino, it is possible to find a corner where to feel at home, with all the comforts You need and maybe something more?
At the Hotel La Perla in Canazei, it is just so. The wide, bright, comfortable and elegant spaces offer suitable atmospheres for everyone’s needs: relaxation and reading corners, such as the lounges in the bar area; family-friendly areas, the terrace and the "Stube"; places dedicated to amusement, the games room and the piano bar; areas reserved for beauty and “remise en forme”, the Wellness Centre and the SPA of the Hotel La Perla.
There are also outdoor spaces: in the panoramic garden with a view on the Dolomites, looking to the south-east in front of the hotel, guests who love to “suntan” can enjoy whole days of sunshine on the deck chairs. Sipping a soft drink, parents watch their children play undisturbed in the meadow, under the warm and clear dolomite sun, watching from the front row the fascination of mountains Vernel, Sella Pordoi.
The Hotel La Perla really is the right place in Canazei, where you always find a space for yourself and feel comfortably “at home”.
An excellent hotel - We booked late so didn't expect to find anything very good. La Perla came up, it looked promising and we booked it. I started this review from my room in La Perla six days into our week skiing the Sella Ronda. The hotel has been a revelation. I can't believe we were lucky enough to get availability at short notice. It is clean, warm, comfortable and attractive. I didn't hear noise from other rooms which can be an issue at so many hotels. The staff are friendly, attentive and nothing is too much effort. The food is delicious and there is a good choice to meet most tastes. Dinner comprises well presented courses that show there is a talented team working hard in the kitchen. The spa facilities were a bonus and for most of the week we didn't take advantage of what it had to offer. Then on the last day, adverse weather and a sore toe forced me to take a break from skiing and I booked a massage. I opted for a relaxing Thai massage on the advice of the spa receptionist. I have regular sports massages at home and wanted something more relaxation orientated. The 50 minute massage was very good and quite different to what I am used to. It was relaxing but also involved deep tissue work that was at times painful but very beneficial. For the hotel I would score it 10 out of 10. Canazei is below the skiing area and access to the slopes is provided by a gondola close by the hotel. We faced a 20 minute queue each morning but this is probably unusual as this week many of the Italians are on holiday. It is possible to ski down to the town at the end of the day bypassing the gondola. There is a 10 minute downhill walk from the end of the run to La Perla so nothing too taxing. Even though access to and from the skiing area is reasonable, it is not as good as previous resorts where it is possible to ski from and back to accommodation. I don't leave many reviews but the hard work of the team at Last Perla deserves recognition. Getting to and from the pistes is not a big issue but decisions can be made on marginal differences. Avoid the Italian holidays and La Perla will be a great base for anyone looking for a great time skiing.
We stayed for a week over New Years and were very happy with our choice. Friendly staff, SPA not too crowded, lifts and sports shops across the road. Breakfast buffet had all you need and dinner options were plenty and quite reasonable. Maybe not the cheapest option in town but probably the best and WAY better value than some close by 4/5 star hotels, never mind those in Austria or Switzerland.
We stayed 4 nights with half board. Excellent restaurant, prepared and friendly staff. The afternoon snack was highly appreciated! It is not found in many hotels. Clean, spacious and bright rooms. Magnificent cleaning service twice a day. The wellness center is well equipped, a place where you can relax after a day on the snow! We felt pampered. We will definitely be back soon!
This is a really nice family-run hotel with great food, service and amenities. I was very well looked after by all the wonderful staff, from the lovely ladies on reception, to the restaurant and bar staff and even the cleaning lady was always polite, friendly and helpful. The Spa/pool/jacuzzi and other facilities were great to come back to after a hard day on the slopes and very relaxing. I must mention the lovely Merika and also Carmen who gave me a wonderful relaxing Thai massage in the spa on my last day. They were always welcoming and friendly. I would definitely recommend this hotel and it's really close to the ski lift too.
We arrived on a snowy day to the Spa. The receptionist was very polite. The spa is large, very nice and clean, with all the required facilities. Great time for a stormy weather or simply after the ski. We had great time there, and I'm sure we will return next winter when we will come to ski.
I spent a whole week in the hotel, which located in the area of Sella Ronda, the greater ski resort in the Dolomites mountains in northeast Italy. The hotel is nice and cosy, most of it built of wood. We had a large room with a small balcony against the view. There is a very nice comfortable spa in the hotel in which you can spend after a skiing day. And also, 3 minutes walk from the sky cable car that goes up to the mountain.
Beautiful and welcoming hotel, a pearl in the Dolomites! Friendly staff and lovely wellness area. Large and well heated room. I absolutely recommend it in the winter, because of the proximity to the slopes.

In August 2009 the Dolomites were declared a UNESCO World Heritage site and take their name from the carbonate rock "dolomite". During winter they're an absolute paradise for downhill and cross-country skiers, and mountaineers alike. Local legends and fairy tales tell of an enchanted valley of unparalleled beauty. The charm of this valley where Canazei lies is called the Val di Fassa (or Fassa Valley) and has remained unchanged over time. Canazei lies in the upper part of the Val di Fassa and is one of the most popular Alpine resorts in the world. It's famous for its beautiful ski slopes, après-ski and excellent snow conditions. Directly linked to the Sellaronda circuit, the ski area of Val di Fassa offers modern lifts, 120km slopes for all levels suitable for children and beginners and also expert skiers. Canazei during winter is not just for skiing! It's possible to take amazing tours in the woodlands, slide along slopes with snowshoes, or ride with ponies to admire Dolomite panoramas riding in a carriage driven by horse! At the end of a long day on the slopes we can help you completely unplug and enjoy a relaxing day in the Wellness & Spa Centre, with internal and external pools, hydromassage and saunas.
